Roger Soderstrom Scholarship

Born in Camrose on March 1, 1932, Roger William Soderstrom built a career with the Government of Alberta, encouraging the preservation and interpretation of Alberta’s heritage. Following his death in a 1980 traffic accident, the Foundation established this scholarship in his honour to help advance historic preservation in Alberta by assisting student research.

The Heritage Preservation Program (HPPP) provides matching grants and scholarship funds to support initiatives that preserve and interpret Alberta's heritage. The Roger Soderstrom honours the late Roger Soderstrom's work and career with the Government of Alberta in encouraging preservation of Alberta's heritage.

Eligibility/Criteria

  • Applicants must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident and be a resident of Alberta
  • Must be enrolled full-time and in one of the following areas of research, but not limited to:
    • architectural preservation, urban or area planning and conservation, historic resource management, archaeology, history or palaeontology
  • The research project must have a significant Alberta content and will help with the preservation or understanding of Alberta's heritage.
