External Membership to the School of Graduate Studies
If you would like to participate in the delivery of graduate studies at the University of Lethbridge and are not a faculty member, you may seek membership in the School of Graduate Studies.

Submit your request for membership to the Dean of the relevant Faculty/School. In some areas, you will need to initially submit this information to the Department Chair who will then forward your request to the relevant Dean.
Your request should include:
- your curriculum vitae;
- the proposed length of your term;
- the graduate education activities in which you would like to participate; and
- your contact information (i.e., email address).
The Dean of the Faculty/School that you will be working with recommends your membership to the School of Graduate Studies.
The recommendation includes:
- A written letter of recommendation from the Dean that specifies:
- rationale for membership
- graduate education activities in which you intend to participate
- length of term requested
- Your current curriculum vitae
- Your contact details (i.e., email address)
The School of Graduate Studies will contact you to notify you of the of the outcome of your request.
If your membership is approved, you will need to submit additional information from you so that you are able to access the ULethbridge intranet and the School of Graduate Studies Portal to access and approve forms submitted as part of graduate students' programs.
We will send a secure DocuSign form to you to collect the following information so that we can assign you a ULethbridge ID number and login information:
- Full name
- Birthdate
- Physical address
- Email address
- Phone number
The information you provide in this form will be provided to Student Enrolment and Registrar Services to create your ID number.
When your ULethbridge account is set up, the School of Graduate Studies will forward you your membership letter that includes your ULethbridge ID number and account login information.
If you have not previously set up a ULethbridge account, it will be initially created with a randomly generated password. When you receive your login information in your membership letter, you will need to log in to your account right away and change your password.
Welcome to the School of Graduate Studies! You will now be able to access the School of Graduate Studies Portal and review necessary documents for the student and committee you are working with.

As a member of the School of Graduate Studies, you should be familiar with important School of Graduate Studies documents.
Note: If your activities will extend beyond the term of your appointment, be sure to renew your membership before it expires.
