AB Teachers Association Nadene M Thomas Bursary

The Nadene M Thomas Graduate Research Bursary is awarded to a teacher enrolled in a graduate program in a specialty in education at a recognized Canadian university. Research must focus on health issues affecting teachers and/or teachers' working conditions.

Value: $5,000

Deadline: Feb 28th at 5pm

Eligibility:

Eligible if you:

  • hold an Alberta permanent professional teaching certificate
  • have completed at least five years (or 700 days equivalent) of successful K-12 teaching in Alberta, during which time you held the highest level of ATA membership possible;
  • are an ATA member in good standing and are at the highest possible level of ATA membership at the time of application;
  • are registered in any year of a graduate certificate, diploma, or master's degree program in education offered by a recognized public university in Canada;
  • intend to complete or are currently completing a culminating research project that focuses on contemporary issues impacting professional practice or public education, or innovative approaches to teaching or school leadership;
  • intend to continue to contribute to K-12 public education in Alberta upon completion of your graduate program;
  • have not previously received a Nadene M Thomas Graduate Research Bursary;
  • are not applying for the ATA Doctoral Fellowship in Education or the Belairdirect Scholarship this year.
