Long, Tony
May 18th 2006: LONG, John, Anthony (Tony). Tony was born in Pennsylvania and raised in Missoula, Montana and area. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Montana. He then attended the University of Missouri where he studied and graduated with his Ph. D. in June 1967. He arrived in Lethbridge, Alberta with his family on July 31st 1967 to join the Department of Political Science at the new University of Lethbridge, where he taught for 29 years, also serving four years as Dean of Arts and Science. He retired in 1998, and spent many years raising, training, showing and hunting with his beloved dogs. Tony was an ardent fly-fisherman, and truly enjoyed all these outdoor activities with his wife, sons, and good friends. He was a founding member of Lethbridge Ducks Unlimited , and served in several capacities for 12 years. Tony was also president of the Pointer club of Canada for five years. He consulted for Red Crow Community College on the Blood Reserve, and made many good friends in the years he was there.
