Lightning Strikes

This picture was taken near my hometown northwest of Edmonton called Onoway. I was out checking cows with my Mom and there was a storm that was coming through. We sat in front of this candle field for at least twenty minutes to get this picture and it’s one of my favourites that I’ve ever taken.
Iron Shoe Memorial, Budapest
Lawrence Steinke
Sculptor Gyula Pauer created sixty pairs of period-appropriate shoes out of iron with three plaques "To the memory of the victims shot into the Danube by Arrow Cross militiamen in 1944–45" memorializing 3,500 people, 800 of them Jews, who were shot into the Danube during the time of the Hungarian Arrow Cross terror. Captured with the appropriate "God Rays" in the background at sunset.

Paddlers Home for the Night
Ashley Pierson
I had the pleasure of going on a several day kayak trip in the traditional territory of Ha-houlthee in Tofino, Canada. The Indigenous peoples have called this area home for thousands of years. I felt deeply connected to these people by experiencing the challenges and beauty they would encounter navigating these waters and setting up camp as their home for the night.
