Training
Institutional Animal User Training Program (IAUTP)
The Animal Welfare Committee (AWC), in compliance with the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC), requires all personnel who will be working with research animals to complete appropriate training and that the University of Lethbridge maintain records to document this training.
Until your training is successfully completed, access (including direct supervision access) to the animal facility is prohibited unless prior authorization has been received from the Facility Coordinator.
The IAUTP is provided through the Office of Research Ethics (theoretical knowledge in the principles of humane experimental science and ethical issues associated with the use of those animals, including the 3 R’s) and through Animal Care Services (practical knowledge, skills and competency assessment in animal handling).
