DSB Course Registration

What are Dhillon School of Business (DSB) courses?

When is registration?

Registration for Fall (and Summer) takes place mid-March and for Winter in early November. Be sure to register as soon as your registration time ticket opens during the initial registration period to be eligible for wait-listing.

How do I plan my DSB course registration?

When planning your registration, you should familiarize yourself with the Registration Guide, the Registration Videos, and the sequencing page of your Program Planning Guide. A full course load is five courses per term or 15 credits. Three courses or 9 credits constitutes full-time studies.

For DSB courses, take special note of the following important pieces of information in the timetable on the Bridge:

1. Campus

The campus notation determines which students can initially register in a course as follows:

CampusCampus CodeNote
Calgary1Only Calgary campus students can initially register in Campus = "1" in-person or online courses.
LethbridgeMOnly Lethbridge campus students can initially register in Campus = "M" in-person or online courses.

2. Instructional Method

Calgary campus (Campus = "1") courses and Lethbridge campus (Campus = "M") courses can be either in-person or online. In the timetable on the Bridge, click on the Course Registration Number (CRN) link and look for the "instructional method" to see if a course is offered in person (IN) or online (OL).

3. Registration Restrictions

All DSB courses are initially restricted by campus and/or by program (college) for Fall and Winter terms. In the timetable on the Bridge, click on the Course Registration Number (CRN) link and then click on the course title link to see if a course is restricted to DSB programs or to a particular campus. Registration restrictions will display under the “Restrictions:” heading.

If a course is restricted by campus, only students at that campus can initially register in the course. If a course is restricted by program (college), only students in that program can initially register in the course. Program (college) and campus registration restrictions will be dropped as per the tables at the bottom of this page.

How do I find DSB courses in the timetable?

To find DSB courses under the "Advanced Search" option in the timetable on the Bridge, first select the subjects for the courses you are interested in, then select "ALL" instructional methods for both in-person and online courses, and then select your campus. Note: if you select all subjects, you can also narrow your search to just DSB courses by selecting "Management course" as the attribute type.

Lethbridge or Calgary campus DSB courses may be offered online or in-person (instructional method) and are initially restricted to students on those campuses respectively. DSB courses may be initially restricted to students in DSB programs (colleges).

You will need to check the registration restrictions for a DSB course to see if it is available to you. See Registration Restrictions above. Program and campus registration restrictions will be dropped as per the tables at the bottom of this page.

Why can't I register in a DSB course?

If the course has seats available, but you are not able to register, click on the Course Registration Number (CRN) link in the timetable on the Bridge and then click on the course title link to see if a course is restricted to DSB programs (colleges) or to a particular campus. Registration restrictions will display under the “Restrictions:” heading.

Program (college) and campus registration restrictions will be dropped as per the tables at the bottom of this page.

Can I register in a DSB course at another campus?

Not initially. This is because course seats are allocated by the number of students at each campus courses and so are initially restricted by campus so students can only register in courses offered at their campus. However, campus registration restrictions will be dropped as per the tables below and if seats are still available at the time, you will be able to register. Please note: For hybrid courses that are jointly offered in person at one campus and online at the other campus, you may only attend the section in which you are registered. Do not register for a course that is offered in-person at the other campus and expect to attend online.

Can I switch to the other campus?

Students wanting to switch campuses for the upcoming term can make the request by emailing Student Records in the SEARS office from their U of L email and cc'ing Calgary advising and Lethbridge advising by the deadlines below:

  • June 15 for the Fall term
  • September 15 for the Winter term

Students who miss the deadline will have to wait until registration restrictions drop as per the tables below to register in courses at the other campus.

When will DSB course registration restrictions be dropped?

There will likely be fewer restrictions on Summer 2025 courses and the drop dates will be earlier than those for Fall and Winter shown below; Summer 2025 restriction drop dates will be posted when finalized.

Fall and Winter terms generally follow the tables below;  Fall 2025 restriction drop dates will be posted below when finalized.
