Activities Coordinator for International Student Programs

Casual, hourly position
The Activities Coordinator is responsible for researching, planning and leading activities and events for a custom ESL program as well as for International students, and performing general duties as required in the International Centre for Students (ICS) at the University of Lethbridge.
- The incumbent will need to work closely with and take direction from the International Student Advisor and the Manager of Language Services.
- Dates/Hours: January 13 – February 14, 2014: average of 15 hours/week (activities typically scheduled Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons); February 24, 2014 – March 28, 2014: average of 6 hours/week
- Some evenings/weekends may be required.
- Hourly wage: $11.50
Duties and Responsibilities: Activity Research, Planning, and Leadership
The incumbent will research, plan, and lead extra-curricular activities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Reserve, coordinate and confirm various aspects of activities as needed;
- Lead students to activities both on and off-campus;
- Maintain strong communication with staff and volunteers;
- Troubleshoot and provide solutions for problems;
- Research, organize, and evaluate plans and activities as requested;
- Document and organize records of activities, correspondence and contacts;
- Promote activities and events to students;
- Other related duties as required.
Required Skills and Abilities
Experience as a group leader and/or event coordinator would be considered an asset. As well, the incumbent will:
- Draw upon his/her enthusiasm, creativity, and innovation to delight an energetic group of youth;
- Demonstrate experience and understanding of excellent customer service;
- Have strong decision making and problem solving skills with the ability be pro-active and take initiative when required;
- Be organized with excellent writing, project management, and time management skills;
- Have the ability to work in a team as well as independently;
- Have the ability to understand people with different perspectives and to work with people of different cultures and ages;
- Have the ability to pay attention to fine details while keeping the overall vision in mind.
