GRA Thematic Call
The GRA Thematic Call is now OPEN. Please note that you can still apply for the regular GRA program (details below).
Program Overview
The Mitacs Globalink Research Award (GRA) supports research collaborations between Canada and select partner organizations and eligible countries and regions.
Under the joint supervision of a home and host professor, successful senior undergraduate students, graduate students, as well as postdoctoral fellows will receive a $6,000 research award to conduct a 12- to 24-week research project in the other country. Interns are able to come to or leave Canada using this award. Awards are offered in partnership with Mitacs’s Canadian academic partners (and, in some cases, with Mitacs’s international partners), and are subject to available funding.

Current Call Status
The 2024 call for faculty applications is now open!
Professors can submit applications by June 8, 2023, at 1 p.m. PT.
Program Overview
The Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is a competitive initiative that brings international undergraduates to participating Canadian institutions to participate in a 12-week research internship under the supervision of Canadian university faculty members. Interns and faculty from all academic disciplines are eligible, from science, engineering, and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences. Internships run within a window from May to October of each year.
How it works
Interested faculty from participating institutions submit research project postings to Mitacs for projects occurring the following year. An international pool of top-ranked international students then apply to the postings they are interested in. Faculty receive a list of interested candidates to review and interview, then rank interns in order of suitability. Mitacs then collects student and professor rankings before finalizing the pairing. A more detailed timeline can be found here.
Globalink Graduate Fellowship (GGF)
The GGF is a fellowship for GRI alumni that offers a one-time $15 000 stipend for former interns who return to Canada for the master's, PhD or postdoctoral programs at an eligible Canadian partner institution.
