Cost/Fees

Co-op fees are due on the last day of scheduled classes for each semester.

Please check with the Cash Office or your Bridge account for outstanding balances and due dates.

Students doing a self-initiated Co-op have the same responsibilities (reports, site visit etc.) and pay the same tuition and fees. Click here for more information.

Some employers do pay relocation costs. The biggest determining factor is where the employer is located. Our postings will tell you if the employer is paying relocation costs. Stop by our office if you have further questions.

Since you retain your full-time status while on a Co-op work term, you will remain in interest free status. You must arrange to have Confirmation of Enrolment forms completed for each semester you are on a work term. Contact your loan provider for more information and feel free to contact the Scholarships and Student Finance office with any questions.

When you process your student loan, the confirmation of enrollment in full time studies is done automatically.

It is a general convention of co-operative education that salaries paid to Co-op students vary by type of assignment, economic sector and sub-sector, geographical location, how many courses the student has completed towards his/her degree and whether or not the student has completed previous co-operative education work terms. Students in 2017 earned between $2400 and $5400 per month. However, it is the experience, not the wage, which ultimately provides for a successful Co-op term.

Yes, if your Co-op Work term is not in Lethbridge, you are able to opt out of the UPass.

There is a strict criterion for eligibility to opt-out. When classes were primarily online due to COVID-19, the University made an exception to the criterion and allowed all students to opt-out. Now that classes will be returning in-person for the fall semester, UPASS will become a mandatory fee and the original opt-out terms will be in effect.

The following students will be able to opt out of UPASS:

• Students living in residence on campus
• Students enrolled in online courses and Calgary Campus students
• Students who live outside of Lethbridge but within an 80km radius
• Students registered as a CNIB or Para-transit student
• Some Co-op and Practicum students

If none of those circumstances apply to you, then you will NOT be eligible to opt out.

The opt-out deadline for UPass for the fall and spring terms are the same as those for the University of Lethbridge Students’ Union (ULSU) Health & Dental plan.
