Art Studios - Student Assistants
The Art Studios, located in the Centre for the Arts, are dedicated to the creation of artworks in areas of photography, printmaking, sculpture, drawing, painting, digital fabrication, among other mediums. Art studio student assistants provide general shop and studio maintenance support. Tasks include, but are not limited to: studio and workshop upkeep, cleaning, maintenance, painting, material prep. ect.
Experience Required:
- Art studio facility experience and familiarity
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work quickly, have a positive attitude, good communication skills, and ability to work under tight project deadlines
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, and willingness to learn new skills
- Ability to lift weight up to 50 lbs
- Safety footwear
- Completion of Safety Checklist, including acknowledgment of SWP Manuals, Hazard Assessments, and WHMIS training
Rate of Pay: $16.00/hour

University Theatre - Box Office Assistants
Our box office staffing is full for Spring 2024. Applications for Fall 2024 are being accepted now.
Box Office Assistants are scheduled to sell tickets at the Box Office window, 12:30pm - 3:30pm Monday through Friday and for all evening and weekend shows. Box Office assistants often work as Front of House supervisors and will also take care of bar and concession during intermissions in the lobby.
- Good customer service experience
- Excellent availability weekday afternoons (must be available at least 2 afternoons a week from 12pm - 4pm inclusive) and good availability evenings and weekends of our events
- Knowledge and appreciation for performing arts
- Ability to learn quickly, have a positive attitude, good communication skills, and ability to work with urgency and accuracy in a fast-paced sales environment
- Pro-Serve Training required (certification provided if you don't have it, but you'll be required to complete it)
Rate of pay - General Clerk 1 AUPE

Costume Shop Student Assistants – Theatre Operations
The Costume Shop, located in the Centre for the Arts is a busy workshop dedicated to costume construction for Fine Arts programs, including Department of Drama Mainstages, Department of Music Opera Workshop, and other programming. Costume shop student assistants provide support with cutting, sewing, assembly, and costume maintenance.
Experience Required:
- Costume shop experience an asset
- Excellent demonstrated skills in machine and hand sewing, cutting, and quick repair and alterations
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to learn quickly, have a positive attitude, good communication skills, and ability to work under tight project deadlines
- Completion of Safety Checklist, including acknowledgment of Standard Operating Procedures, Hazard Assessments, and WHMIS training

The Scene Shop, located in the Centre for the Arts is an active facility dedicated to the construction of scenery and props for theatre productions, including the Department of Drama Mainstages and other programming. Scene shop assistants provide support with construction projects, paint applications, shop upkeep, cleaning, and maintenance.
Experience Required:
- Scene shop experience an asset
- Experience safely and comfortably operating scene shop power tools
- Ability to read and work with measuring tapes and tools with accuracy and efficiency
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work quickly, have a positive attitude, good communication skills, and ability to work under tight project deadlines
- Ability to lift weight up to 50 lbs and work at heights
- Safety footwear

Theatre Technical Student Assistants – Theatre Operations
The University Theatres, located in the Centre for the Arts include the University Theatre, Recital Hall, David Spinks Theatre and associated performance and rehearsal spaces. Theatre technical student assistants provide assistance with stage setups, light hangs and focus, light construction work, and occasional sound setups.
Experience Required:
- Experience working in a theatre or as part of a performance or event crew is an asset
- Knowledge of standard safe working practices, equipment operation, and correct lifting techniques
- Demonstrated experience taking direction and working safely in teams
- Ability to work quickly, have a positive attitude, good communication skills, and ability to work under tight project deadlines

Position Description: The Music Director position requires an energetic individual who has a passion for Jesus, people, and music. This communicative individual will be responsible for supporting worship teams during Sunday services and for special services throughout the year to ensure the smooth flow of worship and serving as the communication liaison between pastoral/worship staff and volunteer support staff.

- Assist in scheduling of audio and visual technicians.

- Create opportunities for special music.
- Create opportunities for formulation of choirs.
- Develop means to incorporate new members into worship teams.

Assistant Archivist (YCW-BCH)
This position is dependent on funding from the Government of Canada’s Young Canada Works in Heritage Program, administered by the Canadian Council of Archives. Thus, the successful candidate must meet the following criteria: legally entitled to work in Canada, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada, be between the ages of 16 and 30, Graduated from a post secondary institution in the last 24 months.
Overall responsibility: To catalogue a large archival fonds of photographs, and documents, as well as other related projects under the guidance of the Head Archivist & Executive Director.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Arrangement and description of a large archival collection
- Cataloguing using our online database (ICA-AtoM) using the Rules of Archival Description (RAD)
- Re-housing photographs and other materials into archival-safe housing.
Terms of employment:
$21.50/hr for 40 hrs/week - 6 month position, October 2024 to March 2025. (There can be some flexibility with the start date as long as the candidate can complete 20 weeks before March 31, 2025.)
Location: Whistler, BC.
The successful applicant will possess the following skills and abilities:
- Minimum 4 years of post-secondary education. Graduated within the last 2 years.
- Interest in history and/or museum studies
- Internally motivated and demonstrates initiative
