Faculty of Fine Arts Volunteer Opportunities
University Theatres Usher
Contact: Amanda Berg
Sign up at the U of L Box Office (Level 5 Centre for the Arts) to usher for all Faculty of Fine Arts ticketed productions or concerts. Ushers can see the show for free! Sign-up starts at the beginning of each term and is open until all usher spots are filled. Ushers are expected to arrive one hour prior to showtime to attend an orientation with the Front of House Manager, and will rip tickets, hand out programs and help patrons navigate to their seats. Ushers are expected to stay for the full duration of each performance they've signed up for.
Student for a Day Host
Ongoing
The Student for a Day program is an opportunity for a current student to host a prospective student interested their Fine Arts program. Being a host would mean having a “shadow” for the day to show/tell them all the wonderful things about your program, attend your classes, answer questions etc. They will also have meetings scheduled with relevant Faculty and/or staff for more detailed questions. Hosting only occurs October - November and February - March.
External Volunteer Opportunities
The University is not responsible for external opportunities or the content on external websites, which may change without notice.

Volunteer at General Stewart Elementary School
General Stewart Elementary School is seeking a music teacher to work on a voluntary basis. If you are a music education student who would like to volunteer and teach music, please reach out as soon as possible. This commitment would not need to be ongoing throughout the year, but could be, if desired.
They are looking for someone to attend the school over the course of a few days, to teach about music in their discipline (i.e. choir, drumming, guitar etc.) . The goal would be to pique students' interest in different kinds of music that their teachers might not be able to expose them to, in a low-pressure environment.
If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, please email: Karleen.Burns@lethsd.ab.ca
Work Experience/Volunteer Opportunity with 1000 Adventures with T
We are looking for 1-2 students to join our team. Currently we have 3 exciting ventures beginning and growing.
1) A social media platform wherein I am writing and completing a bucket list with 1000 adventures on it.
2) Another social media platform currently thriving on exploring filters, but is also in a transition period to other topics.
3) A podcast collaboration between myself and business partner that feeds into both of our channels. We discuss various real life topics and trying to find the humor and joy within all of life's chaos.
Currently we are needing assistance with building our viewership by creating higher quality content. We are offering a flexible work environment with substantial work experience and learning opportunities. Although this would be a volunteer work experience position (channels are still in beginning stages), we would like to offer these positions as an open invitation to join our team either long term or short term and grow into monetization with us.
Position responsibilities:
-Assist in creating a smoother posting process.
-Production set up (mics, cameras, lighting, etc.).
-Bringing valuable knowledge to the editing process.
-Aid in production to ensure quality footage is captured.
Hours are Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 8:00/8:30 to 10:00/10:30. Additional hours may be required but adequate notice will be given for scheduling.
Thank you for your consideration, we are looking forward to welcoming a student or two to our team.
