The University Campus Master Plan Website

This website now serves as a record of the planning process carried out during the master plan period which concluded in December, 2012. The website also contains key background materials that provide a brief history of our planning and development past.

Campus Planning & Architecture would like to thank the University Archives for making reference material available that reveal the campus development history through interesting drawings and photographs on this site.

The University Archives are currently engaged in a large digitization project beginning with some of the University's earliest material at the time the University was established on the west side. In addition, the Archives, through history professor emeritus James Tagg, has released the first collection of audio recordings comprising personal interviews with many founding university officials, academic leaders and early students as part of the first generation Oral History Project.

A Time of Transition, A Time of Possibilities...

In his inaugural Fiat Lux Address (September 2011), President Michael Mahon invited everyone to "be an active contributor in the conversations that we will be having on some of our most pressing and exciting initiatives." In that address, The Campus Master Plan Process was cited as one of these important undertakings.

The resulting enhancements to the University Campus Master Plan were the result of a comprehensive and highly transparent rational process at the outset. Feedback was welcome during all phases of the planning process. Participants were invited and encouraged to attend consultative World Cafe sessions, Whiteboard Forums and public open houses. The contact page of this website allowed people to directly communicate with the lead planning team at any time during the planning process.
