Services In Residence

Now you’re settled in, you might have questions about the services and facilities in residence. We're here to help! Explore the topics below so you can navigate around residence easily and know where to go for assistance.

Your Housing Services Office will be your resource for all things residence. After moving in, you might have questions about your new home and the staff is here to answer them. As you come and go, you’ll become familiar faces to the staff, so get to know this major support system!

How can the Housing Office help?

Lost Keys: Your room key will act as your access card to your room and residence building facilities. Your ULethbridge ID card is your meal plan card, bus pass, and more. It’s important for you to make sure you keep your keys safe with you at all times and do not lend them to others. Should you lose your room or mail keys, report this to the Housing office to be issued a replacement. For more information on key policies, view the Residence Handbook.

Mail Deliveries: Your Housing office will receive mail delivered to residence, with the exception of holidays and over the winter break. Please ensure that you include your room number and use the same name that you provided in your StarRez portal when sending mail to your residence. All packages, larger envelopes, and mail will be kept at the front desk and a package delivery notice will be sent via email to your Ulethbridge account for you to pick them up. You need to show photo identification and the package delivery notice to retrieve your delivery. All mail and packages will be returned to the sender if not picked up within 30 days. Any mail received after you have moved out of residence will be automatically returned to sender if you haven’t arranged to have your mail forwarded to your home or summer address at any Canada Post Office. Find your residence address here.

Cleaning, Repairs, and Maintenance Requests: Keep in mind that responsibility for the condition and cleanliness of the building is shared by all residents. If damages occur throughout the year to your residence or its furnishings, report them to your front desk immediately. When your damage report is received, an assessment of damages and repair costs is made. We will do our best to try to contact you to arrange a suitable time to complete any necessary repairs. Occasionally, it may be necessary for Facilities Management Staff to enter your room to do the work, whether you are present or not. Read the Residence Handbook for more on cleaning, caretaking, and damages.

In addition to move-out inspections, students will be subject to bi-weekly and mid-semester Health and Safety Checks conducted by housing staff. These checks are essential as a lack of cleanliness in a unit can lead to vermin infestation and unsanitary living conditions. Our overall goal is to ensure our residents enjoy a healthy and safe living environment, contributing to their success and well-being, while also helping to ensure our spaces are treated respectfully.

Health and Safety Checks will run between the hours of 10:00 am - 4:00 pm daily on announced assessment dates.

Housing staff will be looking for overall cleanliness.

Particular assessment will involve:

  • Kitchen
  • Bedroom
  • Bathroom
  • Suite
  • Damages

Please be aware you DO NOT have to be present for the assessment.

Card-activated laundry facilities are available in every residence. To add funds to your Bridge Bucks, please see the card reload stations list posted in your laundry room or go online here. If you lose your laundry card, please see the Housing office. They will provide you with a replacement card that you will need to load money onto. Unauthorized use of another person’s laundry card constitutes theft and may result in disciplinary sanctions. Report malfunctioning washers or dryers to the Housing office or submit a Maintenance Request online. Please indicate which machine is not functioning properly, by putting an "out of order" sign on the machine and giving a brief description of what is wrong. This will prevent any further student from attempting to use a non-functioning machine.

Single Student residents are responsible for carrying their access card at all times and locking their doors when they leave their unit. Student ID will be requested for all lockouts and a lockout charge of $75.00 may apply.

Facilities: Campus Mobility Services is responsible for selling resident permits, maintenance, and the improvement of all roadways, parking lots, pathways, and sidewalks on the university campus. Resident parking passes are in very high demand and sell out quickly. If a student missed the Check-in dates they may purchase a parking permit through Campus Mobility Services by emailing parking@uleth.ca.

  • Resident parking permits are not allocated in accordance with the building location, but rather on a first-come, first-serve basis prior to the fall term via the Online Check-In System.
  • Your license plate is your permit, no physical paper permit is required.

ULethbridge's Facilities Management has a maintenance staff team of caretakers, electricians, carpenters, trades workers, plumbers, and painters who work to maintain a safe living environment for students.

In all residences, caretaking staff will provide regular sanitization of common spaces and light housekeeping (e.g., dusting, vacuuming, emptying garbage) provided they can do so safely and without having to move a resident’s personal belongings. You are encouraged to maintain at least a minimum standard of cleanliness for health and safety reasons and responsibility is shared by all residents. Charges for cleaning up excessive waste or mess will be billed to you if you have not cleaned the affected area within a reasonable length of time.

If damages occur throughout the year to your residence or its furnishings, report them to the Housing office immediately, by making a maintenance request. When your damage report is received, an assessment of damages and repair costs is made. If you have a room maintenance request, including concerns with extreme heat or cold, please contact the Housing office.

Read the Residence Community Handbook for more on cleaning, caretaking, and damages.

If you encounter any issues in your unit throughout the school year—whether something is broken, leaking, misplaced, or not working—please submit a Maintenance Request as soon as possible to avoid any further issues or damages.

We know that staying connected is important to you, and that’s why all residential units are equipped with the following: Wired Internet Access, Guest @ UofL Network WiFi, and eduroam Network WiFi Should you have any issues with your Wifi or your in-room Wired Internet Access, reach out to the ITS Solutions Centre.
