About
Bryn Hewko is an Assistant Professor in the Department of New Media. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in New Media from the University of Lethbridge and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Production from Simon Fraser University. With extensive experience in both traditional and immersive media, Bryn integrates new media technologies with traditional storytelling in his teaching and research.
His research focuses on the interplay between emerging video technologies and visual discourse. Bryn's diverse background as a content professional, educator, and researcher enables him to make contributions to both academia and the creative industry. He is also the Executive Creative Director of Output Media, a new media content studio specializing in video communications and advertising.
Bryn has developed and taught several courses, including Video Fundamentals, Visual Effects, and Emergent Video Studio. His teaching philosophy emphasizes blending practical skills with critical theory, preparing students to engage professionally in the field. Currently, Bryn is engaged in work that explores the relationship between Neural Radiance Field capture (NeRF) and virtual production techniques.
