Rachel Krause

My current body of work was born from my interest in observing and exploring different species of bees through photography. Transferring my observations to paint, I am able to combine this avenue with my interest in landscapes from a satellite view. My paintings from this last semester place emphasis on the ecological concerns surrounding bees and the deep, far-reaching connection that they have with landscapes (and resources that come from these) around the world. I am attempting to examine landscape from a non-traditional perspective while also displaying part of the world of the bee, considering the relationships between the two in connection with the ideas of macro and micro.
