On Friday, the U of L Pronghorns men’s hockey team held a headshave event in support of their brothers, Dylan Tait and Brennan Mahon, as they continue their battles against testicular cancer.
Unofficially, the team raised over $15,500 in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. Add in the support on Tait’s personal page on the Canadian Cancer Society website, and the initiative garnered more than $26,000 for cancer research.
Tait, a fourth-year goaltender, and Mahon, a first-year athletic therapist, were both diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier this season. To donate to testicular cancer research and prevention, please visit the Canadian Cancer Society website.
U of L President and Vice-Chancellor Mike Mahon will be sporting a new look later this week when he shaves his head in support of both his son Brennan and Dylan and to push the message of how important early detection is in the fight against cancer.
