When Jim Coutts, a southern Alberta-based art collector, political advisor and philanthropist, turned his homestead property over to the University of Lethbridge, a number of ideas of how to best utilize the gift began to percolate.
Over the past two years, the Coutts Centre has been used as an artists' retreat, the site for corporate meetings, the setting for major University announcements and simply a natural setting for the southern Alberta community to enjoy.
On Saturday, Sept. 21, the Coutts Centre held a Community Open House where the public was invited to take informal tours of the grounds and enjoy a little slice of the past. As well, an invited audience was treated to an evening performance by the University of Lethbridge Jazz Ensemble.
