For the second season in a row, the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns women’s hockey team will conclude its pre-season preparation by hosting the National Female Hockey Challenge.
The three-day event features six Canadian InterUniversity Sport teams as well as 12 'AAA' Midget girls teams and utilizes the Horns' home facility, Nicholas Sheran Arena, as well as Henderson Arena and the Enmax Centre.
Joining the ‘Horns in this year's CIS tournament are the Mount Royal University Cougars, University of Toronto Varsity Blues, Ryerson University Rams, Concordia University Stingers and St. Thomas University Tommies.
For the ‘Horns, they will open the tournament Friday evening at 8 p.m. versus the University of Toronto. They'll then face the Ryerson Rams at 8 p.m. on Saturday night. The tournament concludes Sunday with the ‘Horns playing the St. Thomas Tommies at 2 p.m. All games of the CIS portion of the tournament will be played at the Enmax Centre.
The Pronghorns will also host a Skate with the Pronghorns event on Saturday afternoon, 12:45 to 1:45 p.m., at the Enmax Centre. The skate is open to the public and admission is free.
In addition to hosting the CIS portion of the tournament, the ‘Horns are also hosting a ‘AAA’ Midget girls tournament with teams from across Alberta. All of the midget tournament games will be played at Nicholas Sheran Arena and Henderson Arena.

The ‘Horns will open the 2013-14 Canada West conference schedule Oct. 4-5 when they host the UBC Thunderbirds.
