Former Chancellor Emeritus Keith Robin was named Lethbridge's Citizen of the Year Monday, an honour fittingly bestowed on a man who helped shape post-secondary education in southern Alberta.
The annual award, presented by the Rotary Club of Lethbridge and the Lethbridge Herald, celebrates the city's most influential people. Robin certainly fits the bill.
In 1967, Robin became the director of continuing education for Lethbridge College, just as the University of Lethbridge was being established on the west side of the city. He would later serve as the U of L's sixth Chancellor Emeritus from 1987 through 1991.
A continuing supporter of the University, Robin is often seen at U of L events and continues close ties with the institution.
