If your New Year's Resolution involves helping others in the community, the University of Lethbridge's Partners for Life Team wants to hear from you.
Entering its third year of association with Canadian Blood Services, the Partner for Life team is seeking to reach 400 total blood donations as it kicks off its 2014 campaign.
"It's been really great, we've had wonderful participation numbers from the beginning and we hope to keep improving each year," says coordinator Patti Leeb from the U of L's Faculty of Management.
The association with Canadian Blood Services bean in 2010 when the Partner for Life team set a modest goal of achieving 150 total donations. That was shattered with a final tally of 335 achieved. Last year, with 300 set as the goal, the U of L community came through with 422 total donations. As the campaign begins this year, Leeb says the group is looking for 400 donations as a target.
If you are interested in hopping on the Life Bus to save a life and give blood, a special bus is ready to pick up the first seven lucky people to transport them from campus to Canadian Blood Services and back again. The first bus of the year will run on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m.
Join the group by contacting Patti Leeb at leeb@uleth.ca or at 403-329-5182; book for yourself and get your friends to book to make it even more fun.
The bus will pick up those who register outside the 1st Choice Savings Centre Building (near the entrance closest to Tim Horton's) and drop them off at that same location after everyone is done. The pickup time is 11 a.m. and the bus is usually back two hours later.
