OER brings a broad range of benefits to the students as well as the educators. Among others they:
- facilitate collaboration among content experts and students;
- ensure academic freedom to use, modify, retain and share content;
- enhance research and teaching visibility;
- provide more relevant and up-to-date materials to students;
- improve student retention and learning outcomes by reducing cost;
- grant learners access to knowledge and quality education (Sustainable Development Goal 4) anytime;
- invite students to become content creators through meaningful assignments.
