Master of Science (Health Sciences)
In the MSc (Health Sciences) program, you'll work alongside ULethbridge Health Sciences faculty who engage students in active, ground-breaking research initiatives. Using a variety of methodologies, faculty supervisors provide research mentorship in a range of areas including:
- Public health
- Nutrition & physical activity
- Cancer, diabetes & heart-disease prevention
- Indigenous health
- Mental health & addiction
- Global, immigrant & refugee health
- Health policy & management
- Therapeutic recreation
- Integrative medicine,

During our 2-year program, you will complete 4 core courses and a thesis under the direction of an academic supervisor and thesis committee.
For an MSc student who is admitted unconditionally, four to six graduate term courses or equivalent (12.0 to 18.0 credit hours) are required, as listed below:

Health Sciences 5300 - Advanced Statistics
Health Sciences 5400 - Advanced Qualitative Analysis
Additional courses should be selected in consultation with the student's supervisor.
We also offer Public Health Specialization option within MSc (Health Sciences) program.
Our faculty are actively looking for graduate students interested in research in a number of areas including public health; nutrition and physical activity; cancer, diabetes, and heart disease prevention; Indigenous health; mental health and addictions; gambling; global, immigrant and refugee health; health policy and management, therapeutic recreation, integrative medicine, sexual health; and harm reduction, to name a few. You also have the option of integrating academic study at the Master’s level with relevant, paid work in an appropriate health-related field through Co-operative Education. This hands-on opportunity enriches and further strengthens the professional development of students in our MSc program.
