CONNECTIONS: Humanities and Social Sciences Conference
On 4-5 May 2019, the University of Lethbridge hosted the first Connections: Social Sciences and Humanities Conference. Connections provided students from the social sciences and humanities an opportunity to present their research. The conference connected students and faculty with the aim of fostering cross-disciplinary engagement and collaboration by exposing students and faculty to work occurring outside their primary disciplines.
The conference began with a reception on the evening of May 3. On May 4-5, undergraduate and masters students presented their research in oral and poster presentation formats. There were over sixty student presentations over the two days and more than seventy attendees at the conference, including students, faculty and interested members of the public.
The conference drew students from a number of institutions across Canada. The keynote speaker was Dr. Jennifer Porter (MUN) who presented “Connection Religion and Popular Culture: The Case of Death in Disneyland.”
The 2020 iteration of the Connections conference is now being planned. More information will be coming soon, so start thinking about the research you want to present!
