Tanner LaPointe

Email Address:

Born and raised in Lethbridge, Tanner Lapointe has established himself as a versatile and engaging vocal performer. He graduated with Great Distinction in 2022 from the University of Lethbridge, earning a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance under the tutelage of Dr. Blaine Hendsbee and Dr. Sandra Stringer. Tanner has brought a number of characters to life from across operatic repertoire, such as The Duke of Plaza Toro (The Gondoliers), Figaro (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), The Count Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Le Dancaire (Carmen), Singer 4 (Transformations), and more.

Tanner’s first major solo performance was as a boy soprano at the age of 12 in Benjamin Britten’s Saint Nicholas. Since then, he has been a featured soloist in notable concert works including Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Fauré’s Requiem, and selections from Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. He continues to perform frequently across Southern Alberta and British Columbia both as a soloist and ensemble singer.

He enjoys working with students of all ages and interests, helping them discover and nurture their passion for singing. His research interests include the connection between identity and singing in all singers, particularly in the context of the adolescent male voice. Tanner is dedicated to exploring strategies that promote healthy vocal production and sustained enjoyment of singing for his students.

Currently, Tanner is in his final semester of the Bachelor of Education program at the University of Lethbridge. Beyond his academic and professional pursuits, he actively participates in the community by working with choral ensembles and theatre companies. In his spare time, Tanner is an avid Diet Coke enthusiast who loves outdoor activities such as hiking and kayaking. He also enjoys exploring markets and craft fairs, participating as both a vendor and a guest.
