Biography
Kathy Haight teaches a variety of courses in the Faculty of Health Sciences, with specific interests in health promotion, program planning, implementation, evaluation, and community health nursing. She has extensive experience teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her experience as a community health nurse working in rural and remote areas, in addition to her experience as a Medic with the Canadian Forces, has provided opportunities to work with a wide variety of populations in diverse settings and unique environments.
Kathy obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with Honors from the University of British Columbia and her Master of Nursing from Memorial University of Newfoundland. She is a Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Alberta.

Research Interests
Kathy has research and consulting interests in health-related program design, implementation science, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and quality improvement initiatives.
Kathy has conducted research on youth school-based tobacco prevention, including developing, implementing, and evaluating the Academy for Tobacco Prevention program. For this work, she was awarded the Alberta Health Services Barb Tarbox Award of Excellence in Tobacco Reduction.
This early research has led to evaluation projects with recovery coaching and recovery-oriented systems of care.
