Cummins, Brendan

Brendan Cummins (PhD, University of Lethbridge 2026) is an instructor in the University of Lethbridge’s School of Liberal Education. He teaches mostly first and second year courses; in all his classes, students are encouraged to stretch the boundaries of how they acquire knowledge and how they think about the world in which they live and work. Brendan’s doctoral work in Cultural, Social, and Political Thought focused on how religious movements and organizations, particularly new religious movements like The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, use lived religion and everyday routine to make social and cultural landscapes that reinforce identity and feelings of belonging to spaces and places. 

When not diving into research he is an avid comic book reader and collector. He also enjoys the walking in the parks and along trails in Lethbridge with his partner and his rescue dog Ellie.

I teach LBED 1000: Knowledge and Liberal Education, LBED 1500: The First Year Experience, LBED 2000: Identity and Liberal Education, and coordinate and co-teach the Early Start Experience.
