Cords of Academic Distinction
Image
Cords of academic distinction were inaugurated at Spring 1999 Convocation. The cords are worn by undergraduate students whose outstanding academic achievement merits the designation of distinction or great distinction as authorized by the Faculty which awards the degree.
Royal blue cords signify distinction while bright gold cords signify great distinction. Combined degrees students earning distinction or great distinction for both degrees wear two cords.
Cords of academic distinction are not a part of the academic dress of the University and are worn only during the convocation ceremony in which the degree is conferred.
