Collaborative effort between the University of Lethbridge and other Alberta universities has identified a new technique to help identify women at risk of metabolic disorders
Between three and 20 per cent of pregnant women in Canada develop gestational diabetes mellitus, or GDM, and the health of both the mother and her developing child can be negatively affected if left untreated.

Not only have they published papers in major journals, they’ve also collaborated with other departments within the U of L and internationally.

A majority of Canadians continue to believe in God, according to the most recent national survey by University of Lethbridge sociologist Dr. Reginald Bibby (DLitt ’18).
Bibby has been charting the God numbers through national surveys from the mid-1970s to December of this year.

People will be looking up to the heavens Monday evening hoping to catch a glimpse of the Christmas star — the great conjunction that will make Jupiter and Saturn appear very close together in the southwestern sky a few hours after sunset.
On Monday, Dec. 21, Jupiter and Saturn will share the same celestial longitude and appear to pass each other in the sky in what’s known as a great conjunction, because these are two largest planets in our solar system. Jupiter has an orbital period of approximately 12 years while Saturn’s is about 30 years.
