John O’Keefe, PhD, Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London, is known for his monumental discovery of ‘place cells’ within the region of the brain responsible for spatial navigation and memory. Dr. O’Keefe holds numerous positions and awards including the Gruber Neuroscience Prize, Fellow of the Royal Society, and Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences. Current research interests involve developing computational models of spatial navigational and memory processing.
