General Majors
STUDY EVERYTHING
Unlike a single discipline major, a general major allows you to customize your course selections to your interests by choosing three disciplinary streams in either the humanities, the sciences or the social sciences.
This multidisciplinary approach gives you a wider contextual perspective as the courses you choose will enhance your focus on several topics and provide a “bigger picture” view of your chosen theme of study.
As a student participating in a general major degree program, you’re not limited to studying only within your three disciplinary streams. As part of your liberal education, you will also be required to take classes outside your major. This allows you to develop skills and experience in the humanities, sciences and the social sciences, further enriching your academic studies.
I have always had a hard time deciding what to study — in my General Major I feel like I can study a little bit of everything.
