The second installment of the Pronghorns Scholarship Breakfast proved to be a rousing success Wednesday morning as nearly 300 people attended and showed their support for University of Lethbridge athletics programs.
Following on the heels of last year's inaugural breakfast, that featured broadcasting icon Brian Williams, the 2013 event invited Olympians Mark Tewksbury and Debbie Muir to campus. Tewksbury, who won Olympic gold in the 100-metre backstroke at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, and hall of fame coach Muir have teamed up to form Great Traits (www.thegreattraits.com), a professional development company focused on the fundamentals of achievement, leadership and legacy. Together, they have authored a book (The Great Traits of Champions) and offer a variety of workshops and training programs to a wide range of clients.
On Wednesday, they offered an interactive presentation that had the assembled crowd up and out of its seats participating in a series of illuminating and entertaining exercises.
The Horns Scholarship Breakfast raises money for U of L student athletes now and into the future. Its goal is to continue to provide essential funding as the Horns build and maintain a competitive athletic program.
