The University of Lethbridge community lost a valued friend and colleague Tuesday after learning of the passing of Debbie Kullman, an English Language Skills instructor in the International Centre for Students.
Survived by her husband Ron Kullman and his children, as well as numerous family members, Debbie joined the University in 2002 as a sessional English for Academic Purposes (EAP) instructor. She became a full-time employee approximately two years ago.
Kullman was a valued co-worker, and among her many strengths, made new students feel comfortable as they settled into their courses and life in Lethbridge.
She spoke fluent Japanese (having been born in Japan) and was instrumental in helping our Japanese students with their language transitions. She also was called on frequently to translate for visiting Japanese guests, the Hokkai-Gakuen visiting professors, and others. She attended a Hokkai-Gakuen exchange in 2007.
A complete obituary and information relating to a memorial service will be posted as it becomes available.
Condolences may be e-mailed to laurel.corbiere@uleth.ca for forwarding to Debbie's colleagues and her family.
