Master's positions open in Economics and Geography

The Economics and Geography departments at the University of Lethbridge are collaborating to offer a unique and personalized graduate program. Applications for three Master's positions are currently being accepted.

Two of the positions available are part of the project "Water: Making do with what we have", funded by the Alberta Research Institute. The first student will be doing his/her research under Part 3 of the project: Values, attitudes, and goals of irrigators. The second student will be doing her/his research under Part 6 of the project: Barriers to acceptance of water transfers from agriculture to urban/environmental uses.

The third position available is a part of the project, "Economic assessment of ecosystem services". This project will investigate and identify/design policies and instruments to ensure an adequate supply of EGS.

Students will benefit from being part of a larger project with PhD and Master's students as well as research associates. Funding for each Master's position is guaranteed at $25,000 per year for two years ($15,000 for research assistantship and $10,000 from the School of Graduate Studies).

Admission requirements are as follows:
- Baccalaureate degree (40 semester course), or its equivalent, in the discipline of interest or in a closely cognate discipline from a recognized university.
- Minimum grade point average of 3.00 (based on a 4.00 scale) on the last 20 graded university level semester courses.
- English Language Proficiency Requirement (minimum iBT TOEFL score of 93 or overall IELTS score of 6.5 with no band less than 5.5)
