Two months of competition will come to a close tonight with the final round of the second annual student speaker challenge.

Addressing the question "What is the value of post-secondary education to the world," student speakers have squared off in an elimination style debate series throughout the months of January and February. A panel of judges and the audience determines who advances in each round and is ultimately eligible to win the first prize of $500, second prize of $300, and third prize of $100.

The How Education Benefits the World Student Speaker Challenge is a collaboration of the Southern Alberta Council on Public Affairs (SACPA), the Lethbridge Public Interest Research Group (LPIRG), and the U of L Students' Union (ULSU), with support from the University of Lethbridge, that provides students with a chance to hone their skills as well as win cash prizes. There will be four initial sessions each with 2 speakers, 2 semi-final sessions, and then one final session to determine who can best present and defend their ideas on the value of post-secondary education.

Tonight's final round is set for 7 p.m. in Andy's Place (AH100). Everyone is welcome to attend and take part in the debate.
