It may be considered the off-season but the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns men's basketball team is continuing to work hard for next season.
The Horns will hold their annual ID Camp this weekend, May 7-8 at the 1st Choice Savings Centre. This camp is an open tryout for any player interested in playing Canada West basketball, and as Horns head coach Dave Adams says, it's not just a public relations stunt.
"Last year we had two people from the tryout camp make the team," says Adams. "Both Wes Chapman and Jeremy Stanley ended up playing for the Horns, so this camp can be very valuable."
Those interested in attending the weekend camp can contact the Customer Service Centre at 403-329-2706 to register. Registration costs are $30 per player and this includes a Horns Nation t-shirt.
In other Horns basketball news, the club will be holding its annual Steve Rodehutskors Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 11 at Paradise Canyon Golf Resort. Further details about registration will follow.
The Horns have been playing spring exhibition tournaments in recent weeks, recently finishing fourth out of 12 teams at the Jason Young Pine Memorial Basketball Tournament. The Horns were 3-2 on the weekend and saw Danhue Lawrence and Julian Spear Chief-Morris named to the first and second tournament all-star teams respectively.
The Horns will next play in the Kodiak Growl tournament, May 14-15 at Lethbridge College.
