Urban Farmer comes to campus

The Urban Farmer, Ron Berezan, is making a pair of appearances at the University of Lethbridge on Thursday as he brings his message of organic gardening to campus.

Sponsored by the Lethbridge Healthy Communities Committee, Active, Creative, Engaged Communities (ACE) and the Campus Roots Cooperative Garden, in association with AB Parks and Recreation, Berezan will present a gardening workshop in the afternoon as well as a keynote address in the evening.

The workshop, entitled Growing Food in Small Spaces – Getting the Most From your Garden, runs from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in TH241 and is open to everyone. To register, e-mail ashley.haughton@uleth.ca.

On Thursday evening, Berezan will then present The Edible City – How We Can Grow More Food in Urban Areas. The talk begins at 7 p.m. in the Students' Union Ballroom B and is open to everyone. The Urban Farmer is an Edmonton-based organic gardening and specialty landscaping service. Their mission is to support the development of natural, sustainable, and edible landscapes in urban areas, working with homeowners, families, individuals, community groups and organizations who have the desire to integrate environmentally sustainable landscape practices into their own yards and communities.
