U of L President connecting with Calgary

Dr. Bill Cade is going to Calgary.

The University of Lethbridge President and Vice-Chancellor is connecting with the city of Calgary over the next month as he will headline a pair of events, beginning with Tuesday's Science Café appearance.

Cade will act as moderator for a discussion on Darwin's Origin of Species, Tuesday, Jan. 27 at the Brickyard (213 10th Ave. SW). Guest experts Dr. Marc Ereshefsky and Dr. Jessica Theodor will be on the discussion panel. There is no cost to attend the event, which begins 6:30 p.m. For more information: e-mail sciencecafe@ucalgary.ca.

He then heads back to Calgary Wednesday, Feb. 4 when he headlines the Big Rock University Lecture Series, presenting Sex on Six Legs. This is a special guest lecture where Cade will discuss the complex – and often deadly – ways in which insects mate. Tickets for this event are $35, and they include dinner. Reservations are required. To book a reservation or for more information: call Big Rock U at 403-720-3239.

Calgary is again the focus on Thursday, Feb. 26 as the Calgary Alumni Chapter — Annual General Meeting will be held. This is an opportunity for alumni to catch up with their classmates and learn what the Calgary Chapter of the Alumni Association has planned for 2009. The event will be held at 5 p.m. at the Saltlik (101 8th Avenue SW). Appetizers will be served and there is no cost to attend. For more information: e-mail uoflcalgaryalumni@uleth.ca.
