A pair of goaltenders are in the spotlight this week as Pronghorn Athletics named Crystal Patterson and Colin Pattison as Subway Pronghorns Athletes of the Week.
Crystal Patterson – Women's Hockey
Second-year goaltender Crystal Patterson has been a workhorse for the 'Horns women's hockey team to start the season and is a key reason why the 'Horns are tied for first place in the conference thus far.
Friday night, Patterson turned aside 25 shots to earn her second consecutive shutout and defeat the CIS fourth ranked Calgary Dinos.
The following night, Patterson was peppered with 41 shots in the 'Horns 3-1 loss in the back half of the home-and-home series.
Through six games, she has led the team to a 4-2 record, while leading the league in shutouts with three and has the second best save percentage in the conference at 0.955.
Colin Pattison– Men's Soccer
Fifth-year keeper Colin Pattison capped off his collegiate career in style this past weekend. Heading into the final weekend of his Pronghorn career, Pattison needed seven saves to break the Canada West single season record for saves.
Saturday afternoon, Pattison made five saves in the 'Horns 1-0 loss to the Trinity Western Spartans. He followed up that performance with seven saves in a come from behind 1-1 tie versus the CIS third ranked UBC Thunderbirds.
He finished the season with 94 saves in 14 games, playing in all but 25 minutes this season for the 'Horns.
