The Senate Volunteer Award winner for 2011 is Elisha Rasmussen, a well-known community volunteer, legendary southern Alberta television reporter and advocate for the University of Lethbridge, its people and programs.
Over the past several years, Rasmussen has led the Senate Honorary Degree Search Committee, welcomed many international students to the U of L as a member of the Hospitality Committee and has been a key member of the Family Friendship program, among a host of other volunteer commitments.
Through the Family Friendship Program, she and her husband Collin helped welcome students from South Korea, Germany, Mexico, France, Poland and Ghana into the community.
As well, Rasmussen has recently been involved in the Alberta 55+ Games and continues to be an on-air presence at Global TV Lethbridge, where she produces and hosts a weekly program geared to seniors' issues.
