John Gill was a valuable member of the University community on a variety of fronts and it is only fitting that the U of L remembers Gill in the spirit with which he lived, by helping others.
The John Gill Memorial Award Run, which raises funds for student scholarships, will take place Apr. 2, 2:30-5:30 p.m. at the 1st Choice Savings Centre indoor track.
Gill's involvement at the University was extraordinary. He was the Alumni Association President, as well as a member of the Board of Governors and Senate. He was also the main drive behind the annual golf tournament "Birdies for Bursaries", which raised thousands of dollars for U of L students.
The goal of this year's run is to raise $10,000; with every dollar raised to be matched by the Alberta Government. To support student scholarships and Gill's legacy, pick up pledge forms at www.ulsu.ca or at the Students' Union office (SU180).
