The University of Lethbridge closed its H1N1 Illness Registry Wednesday, Feb. 3.

The unique online system was created to record illnesses related to H1N1 Influenza as it progressed across campus this past fall.

With very few people ill with H1N1, there is no current need for the registry, prompting its closure. Anyone who becomes ill is asked to inform their professor and obtain a doctor's note if their classes are affected by their illness.

Those seeking information about H1N1 symptoms or any other illness, should continue to visit the University's Health Centre website at www.uleth.ca/ross/health_centre/illness.

The registry proved to be a valuable tool for the University as it monitored the progression of the H1N1 virus across campus. It assisted students, staff and faculty in dealing with the challenges associated with the disease, and allowed those affected the opportunity to stay home and get well, thereby limiting their exposure to the rest of the University population. At the height of the influenza illness cycle in late October and early November, more than 400 people per week used the registry, a figure well below the number of illnesses experienced in other high-risk population groups in the community.
