Brain Awareness Week continues this weekend at the Canadian Centre for Behavioural Neuroscience as the public is invited inside the CCBN for a glimpse at the world-renowned research being conducted.
A free open house and Brain Awareness Fair is scheduled for Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., where the CCBN's world-renowned researchers will take people on guided tours and offer demonstrations from some of their research findings.
The open house is the final activity of a busy week in the city. CCBN researcher Dr. Sergio Pellis kicked off the week with an engaging lecture at the Yates Theatre, Tuesday night. On Friday, Café Scientifique offers Women in Science: Shaking up Parkinson's Disease Research, sponsored in partnership by the University of Lethbridge and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
Set for 5 p.m. at the Galt Museum & Archives (502 – 1st Street S), the evening will feature presentations by and discussion with three of southern Alberta's experts in Parkinson's disease.
Dr. Gerlinde Metz (University of Lethbridge) will present: Animal Models of Parkinson's disease. Dr. Lesley Brown (University of Lethbridge) offers: Music and the Power to Move: Managing Walking Difficulties. Finally, Dr. Oksana Suchowersky (University of Calgary) presents: Advances in the Treatment of Parkinson's disease.
