a.Compulsory Fees

1.University of Lethbridge fees:

Faculty of Fine Arts - Access Fee - This fee will afford all full and part time, undergrad and graduate students, in the fall and winter terms attending main campus courses in Lethbridge, free admission to all ticketed Fine Arts events (with the exception of certain fund-raising events) on a first come-first serve basis, space permitting. This fee supports the University's commitment to liberal education and provides opportunities for all students to experience a broad range of cultural events held throughout the year.

Sport and Recreation Services (SRS) Fee - Provides access to various facilities and events both on campus and throughout Lethbridge. A portion of this fee supports the Pronghorn Athletic program. This fee applies to students taking main campus courses in the fall and winter terms, at full time and part time rates. Off-campus and summer session students may opt into this service. Student Administrative Fees - Includes (1) Student Services Fee to provide student services and create resources to help students succeed throughout their academic careers; (2) Student Copyright Access Fee to partially offset expenses incurred by the University related to compliance with the Copyright Act; (3) Technology Fee to fund maintenance and replacement of essential technology used in the classroom, as well as annual licensing costs of software used in course delivery. These fees are assessed in all terms, per course.

Tuition Fee - Price charged for enrolment in a course. The tuition fee for auditing a course is half the normal tuition of the course.

2.Students’ Union fees:

These fees apply at full time and part time rates, in all terms and for all campuses:

Building Fund Fee - Covers maintenance, renovations and utilities charges.

Operations Fund Fee - Supports the ongoing day-to-day business costs such as administration, memberships and student services offered by the Students’ Union.

Capital Replacement Fund (CRF) Fee - Used to purchase and replace major depreciating assets.

Student Supports Apps Fee - Gives students affordable access to five globally leading student health, wellness and academics apps: Grammarly Premium, Nimbus, Udemy, Aaptiv, and Calm. All undergraduate students have the ability to opt out of this program.

Food Bank Fee - To provide sustainable funding for the Student Union Food Bank and Campus Food Pantries.

Health and Dental Plans Fee - The Health Plan is an extended plan (over and above provincial health care) specifically designed for the students’ benefit. The Dental Plan is a basic set of dental insurance benefits. All full-time students who pay Students’ Union fees are enrolled in the plans unless proof of alternate coverage is provided to the Students’ Union Office before the opt-out deadline dates for new registrants in each term. 3.Other fees:

Campus Collective Centre Fee - Supports the operations of the Campus Collective Centre. This is a flat fee assessed in the fall and winter terms, applicable on all campuses.

CKXU Fee - Supports the operations of the student radio station. The fee is applicable in all terms for students with main campus courses.

Lethbridge Public Interest Research Group (LPIRG) Fee - Supports the operations of the Lethbridge Public Interest Research Group. This is a flat fee assessed in the fall and winter terms, for students with main campus courses.

Meliorist Fee - Supports the operations of the student newspaper. Full time and part time rates exist, and the fee is applicable in allwinter terms for students on all campuses.

World University Service Canada Fee - Supports the University of Lethbridge Refugee Program through the World University Service of Canada. This is a flat fee assessed in the fall and winter terms, applicable on all campuses.

UPASS Fee - Supports a citywide transit pass for all part- and full-time undergraduate students enrolled in a Lethbridge course, and is assessed each term. Please contact the Student Union for more information and opt out criteria.

b.Program-related Fees

Canadian Nursing Association Annual Fee - Annual dues for students in a nursing program.

Faculty of Arts Equipment Rental Fee - Musical instruments, Art Equipment, New Media Equipment and Digital Audio Arts will have an associated fee to cover ongoing repair and maintenance. If the equipment is not returned, the University will invoice the student for the full amount of the replacement cost of the equipment, less the rental fee.

International English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Placement Test Fee - All incoming EAP students are required to take a Language Placement Test involving additional instructor and administrative labour. A fee of $35.00 will be assessed for this test.

International Exchange Fee - A non-refundable fee of $140 per exchange will be assessed upon application for an exchange with another institution.

Music Fees - See Faculty of Fine Arts, Music Conservatory Fees, and Music Ensemble Activity Fees.

Music Instrument Rental Fee - Additional fee for Education 3800 level course enrolment to defray maintenance costs of musical instruments.

Music Studio Differential Fee - for individualized vocal or instrumental instruction to develop the student’s performance capabilities.

Practicum Fee - Additional fee for Education 2500 enrolment to defray placement costs.

Dhillon School of Business (DSB) experiential learning fee - This fee supports the ongoing licensing costs of several platforms which provide work-integrated learning opportunities to all Dhillon School of Business students. These platforms support the school's strategic inititatives, including a commitment to integrating experiential learning and professional development opportunities throughout the school's curriculum. This fee applies to all DSB students registered in the fall and winter terms.

Specialty Fees - There may be additional charges for field trip costs and for major specialty items in a particular class such as lab costs, lab manuals, art supplies, workbooks, and substantial photocopied materials that are retained by the student. Instructors will normally be able to estimate these costs for a particular class at the start of the term and students are entitled to a receipt upon payment for such costs. Students requested to pay additional fees to departments for materials and services not described in the above guidelines nor in individual class descriptions should contact the Dean’s Office of their Faculty or School concerning the authority for such assessments.

Student Practicum Travel Fee - Additional fee for Professional Semester I or II enrolment to defray placements costs.

Tuition Differential Fee - Additional fee for Science, Education Practicum, and Faculty of Health Sciences courses.

c.Optional Service Fees

Account History Fee - $5 per request.

Administrative Processing Fee for Curriculum Detail - Fee paid by graduates for providing a detailed program curriculum report to third parties - $180.

Ancillary Services - Elevator Service Charge - This fee will be $650 and will be a direct cost recovery for mischief or misuse of a residence elevator which requires a service call for repair.

Ancillary Services - Smoking/Vaping Progressive Charge - This fee will be $100 for first offence, $250 for second offence, and $500 for third offence. This charge is to cover damage, cleaning, and fumigation costs should a student smoke or vape inside a residence space.

Campus ID Card Fee - Students’ first card is free; $5 for community users; flat fee set annually plus $5.00 UPASS replacement fee for replacement cards.

Campus Safety - Building Access Card Replacement Fee - covers the cost of replacement if a card is lost, stolen or physically damaged. The first card is provided to students and staff who require one free of charge. Replacement cards - $10.00.

Late Fee - Fee charged when deadlines are not met - $100 per course and/or transaction.

Library Fines - Charged fines may be recorded on student accounts.

Parking Fee, Forged Permit Charge - See the Campus Safety website.

Residence Fee & all associated housing fees - See the Housing Services website.

Counselling Late Cancellation or No-show Fee - Students who do not attend a scheduled appointment and did not cancel the appointment one business day in advance will be charged a $10 fee. This fee will be posted directly to the student’s account.

Printed Official Transcript Fee - This fee of $12.00 per transcript would recover the cost of producing the transcript, including transcript paper, envelope, regular postage and labour.

Student Affairs - Visiting Student Authorization Processing Fee - This fee will be $100 per course taken through a Visiting Student Authorization (VSA). The fee will be levied on the course at the time the VSA application is approved, not at the time of completion.

Student Affairs - Verification of Graduation (Third Party) - This fee will be $20 per request by a third party (no students) to confirm that the alumni has received the degree they claim to have.

Student Affairs - Late Transfer Credit Assessment Fee - This fee will be $100 for each transfer credit request beyond the free time frame offered.

Student Affairs - Undergraduate Deferral Fee - This fee will be $50 on application deferral requests.

Student Affairs - Convocation Late Fee - This fee will be $100 for each student who would like to attend convocation but did not RSVP or pay for regalia by the posted deadlines.

Teaching Centre - Rebooking Fee - Fee for rebooking exams, to recoup cost of administrative time.
