Undergraduate & Grad Testimonials
I think what is specifically unique about the COHT is the opportunity it provides for researchers and scholars to actively engage with history. The opportunities I have gained from the COHT have made me a stronger scholar. It allowed me to diversify my research methodology, strengthen my research skills, and has allowed me to become more active in the community where I’ve met some remarkable individuals. Through my work with the COHT I have become more passionate as a researcher about studying certain events from the past. I strongly encourage students and scholars to engage with the COHT.
Oral history is a unique way to chronicle history. Listening to someone’s life story, regardless of the individual, is fascinating and beautiful. Every event in history is shaped by the individual’s experiences and memories. The COHT captures the diverse narratives of individuals from Southern Alberta. Anyone who wishes to participate in oral history, or is involved in sharing local history, will benefit from the COHT.

COHT has affected my career. The skills I highlighted in the resume were skills I gained while working for the COHT. In other words I got the job because I had worked for the COHT. Some of the things I did with Karissa Patton can be seen and read online and I remember the editing we had to do with the web designer because the wrong picture was connected to the text. The job was not done when it was sent off to the web team; we had to follow up until we were happy with the results.
