Emeriti Appointments Policy

Revision History:

February 13, 2025: The Board of Governors approved the Emeriti Appointments Policy

Upon receiving feedback from the Statutory Deans’ Council and General Faculties Council, the Emeriti Appointments Policy was updated to align with feedback from members of our university community.

Summary of Revisions: 

  • Inclusion of the term "Emerita" throughout the Policy, along with other editorial updates.
  • Inclusion of the definition of “Retiring” (§2.1)
  • Clarification of eligibility for Emeritus/Emerita appointments.
  • The Policy now extends the emeritus/emerita title to a broader group of members, recognizing diverse contributions across the university (§3.1 and §3.2).
  • Provisions to allow individuals the option to use any Emeritus/Emerita title achieved under the updated eligibility criteria (§3.3).
  • Clarity on interim appointment (§3.4)
  • Other procedural updates (§4)
