Appeal of Application of Policy Other Than Program Appeals, Grade or Student Discipline - Graduate Students

Student Appeals 

An appeal is a formal request for a decision to be reviewed and possibly changed. This page provides an overview of common types of student appeals and links to official university policies and procedures. Please note that this list is not exhaustive, and students are encouraged to consult the University Academic Calendars and relevant University Policies and Procedures for more information.

 

Final Grade Appeals

Students may appeal a final course grade or a decision made by a Faculty or School Grade Appeal Committee in accordance with the Final Grade Appeal Procedure - Undergraduate and Graduate Students.

Student Conduct Appeals (effective July 1, 2025)

Appeals related to decisions and penalties under the Student Code of Conduct can be made through the process outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.

Appeals of Policy Application

If a student feels disadvantaged by how a university policy or regulation has been applied to their status (excluding program-specific, grade, or discipline matters), they may appeal under one of the following policies:

Program Appeals- Graduate Students
 

Graduate students can appeal program-related decisions (e.g., probation, comprehensive exams, thesis proposals) in accordance with the Program Appeals - Graduate Students 

Academic Accommodations Appeals

Board of Governors Appeals
 

Decisions may be appealed to the University’s Board of Governors in specific procedures. Please see the Board of Governors Appeal Procedures for detailed information. ​
