Since 1977, the University of Lethbridge Applied Studies Program has worked in conjunction with the Lethbridge Public Library to offer students the opportunity to train and practice the art of oral storytelling. Storytelling takes place in Lethbridge and area elementary schools (K-6), daycare facilities and community organizations.

Responsibilities:

• To attend 4-5 training sessions on storytelling
• To research and present age-appropriate stories
• To encourage children to visit the Lethbridge Public Library

Job Requirements:Qualifications:

• Must have completed one year of University
• Mature, self-directed person
• A background in drama, education, children's literature, public speaking or experience working with children is preferred
• Definite commitment to the program's scheduling (must be available for two half-days per week, Mon-Thurs)
• French storytelling positions are also available (up to grade 6 French Immersion)

STUDENTS FROM ALL DISCIPLINES ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY

• Participants are required to have at least 2 half days available for storytelling (Monday - Thursday)
• Participants must also be prepared to register this for course credit through the Applied Studies program
