The U of L is home to a rattlesnake hibernacula (den) located on the east side of University Hall. Snakes can often be found sunning themselves on the UHall east patio or other areas around the university. For your safety, please pay attention to the signage and contact Security Services at 403-329-2345 to report snake activity or in the unlikely event you require first aid.
Types of snakes native to this region include rattlesnakes (protected); bull snakes and garter snakes, and Security Services is trained to respond to and relocate snakes as required. It is unlawful to disturb rattlesnakes so please be respectful and maintain a safe distance.
