Gender, Race, and Resistance in Latin America - HPST2850 / ANTH2210
This course will build an understanding of Latin America from the colonial period to the present through the lenses of gender, race, and resistance. We will explore the colonial origins of race and the specific forms it took under Spanish colonialism, the intersection of race and gender in cultural politics in the region, and the coalescence of diverse anti-racism, gender rights, and Indigenous social movements throughout the region, past and present.
